Underwater photography needs different cameras

by Camera Enthusiast on December 2, 2009

———————————————————

Underwater photography needs different cameras. It is a different challenge to have quality photographs underwater since everything appears to be blue green due to color loss caused by absorption of sunlight. Water is not as transparent as air and is a denser medium where sunlight does not travel straight. Special cameras are required to tackle this problem.

underwater cameras use special wide angle lenses to overcome the horizontal color loss in water. These macro lenses bring the photographic scene closer to the camera resulting into a very little gap between the camera and object. Vertical color loss is resolved by the use of special flash in underwater camera. This special flash provide full color spectrum light to the scene that is being photographed.

Next important thing in underground photography is to take care of obstructions like salt, sand type particles found in water which can damage the camera heavily. Underwater camera use O-ring for protection under water that provides it a watertight seal. Camera needs to be fully waterproof under all water conditions. Its design need to take care of not only basic water related differences but also the various challenges that shall be faced by users like scuba drivers.

Once the basic attributes are taken care of in these cameras, other features like auto focus, exposure controls, comfort etc. can be added.

What Color Is Hot? The Temperature Of Tint

by Dive Cameras on November 22, 2009

Illumination is a fine art. It appears in the photographs of Ansel Adams, the cinematography of Haskell Wexler, and the paintings of Caravaggio. Take away illumination and there is no color, no shadow, no contrast and no art, no science, no plant life, no anything. Light fills the void and is the and is the fundamental building block of life, and hence art and culture. Light is a big deal. Yet tons of folks treat light like a forgotten mistress. The giant solar orb rises and and they grumble ’cause the got to get out of bed. The glowing orb sets and the streetlights come on. The house lights could be oil lamps, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lights, moon light or the glow of the television. The natural lighting of the sun, fluorescent lighting, and the glow of a light bulb all illuminate, but they are not the same. Light has a color temperature. Artists, cinematographers and designers are well informed of the color temperature of lights. They use them to great affect. Understanding color temperature is an important skill for any artist or designer.

Color temperature is discussed in terms of warm and cool. The warmest temperatures run in the reddish hues, the coolest in the bluish hue. Average person on the street associate heat with color, thinking the hottest light source should create the warmest colors. The opposite is occurs. The sun has blue tones and a flame has red tones. A flame is perhaps the easiest way to visualize the difference in shades. The hottest part of the flame is the part closet to the burning surface. This part of the fire is usually blue. The edge of the fire is yellow, orange and sometimes even a bit red. This can also be witnessed in the daily passage of the sun. In the cooler hours of the day, the rising or setting sun is red, while the midday sun shines down hot and blue. Our eyes view sunlight as white and therein exists the challenge in photography, cinematography and design.

The human eye operates like one of the best filters ever invented. Whenever the eyelid opens, the eye and the brain work work in conjunction with each other to determine color. A space painted white lit by tungsten lightbulbs will appear white. During the day the same wall will appear white. The ocular nerves and the brain adjust. This is demonstrated when taking a photograph with the camera white balanced incorrectly. If it is white balanced for sunlight and the room is illuminated by tungsten light it will appear very yellow. If it is white balanced for tungsten bulbs and shot under sunlit conditions the picture will appear very blue.

Interior designers, photographers, filmmakers and painters all take into account color temperature. The paint on the wall whatever color it is, will vary with the quality of light. A good designer considers the color of paint in tandem with the source of light. Colors help create ambiance. Even when a person believes they are looking at white, the body reacts to the warm and cool tones.

Knowing color temperature is a helpful tool for anyone interested in art or home design.

The Various Uses of Diatomaceous Earth Filters

by Dive Cameras on November 20, 2009

It’s hard to comprehend the fossilized remains of single-celled plants that lived 15,000 years back could be of use to us in today’s modern world, but scientists have come up with a method to utilize the diatomaceous earth ( D.E. ) they created by dying in the ocean areas of their world. These remains of miniscule plants are called diatoms, and together they make a white, odorless powder that has become quite helpful to humankind. Not being an inventor, it’s tough to imagine how someone figured out a way to make a coating out of this material which, when applied to the pressure side of filter elements creates a filter that traps many different kinds of waste, but somehow this process has come into widespread use.

D.E. Makes a good filtering material, because it is very porous. You may wonder , however , what kind of filtering diatomaceous earth filters are used for, and the answer’s water. D.E. Is an excellent material for filtering foreign particles out of the water supply. Although it will not disinfect the water and make it OK for drinking, it still rids affected water sources of such things as lint, hair, mud, protozoa, cysts, and bacteria. As you can see, these filters are important in the water purification process which manifestly needs to start somewhere. Removal of larger particulates needs to be done before other processes can tackle even finer contaminants and effectively exterminate them.

Diatomaceous earth filters make filtering out the large particles easy since it’s made of microscopically-small particles that are hollow within. These hollows allow miniscule contaminants to be trapped while the water runs on thru. Because of the fact that these filters are notable to filter out colours and elements that have been dissolved in the water, there are some FDA laws about where and when the filters can be used. They are at length utilized in water treatment plants and swimming pools , however , and are also extremely helpful for filtering well water under the influence of surface water. Among D.E.’s other advantages are the facts that there are no chemicals required in its use, and itis also much less costly than other options that are available.

Recreational Underwater Photography

by Camera Enthusiast on November 7, 2009

Underwater photography has come a long way in the last few years. Not long ago, anyone wishing to take pictures underwater needed to purchase expensive underwater cameras or waterproof casings for cameras. This was beyond the reach of the average photography enthusiast. To help casual divers and leisure skin divers or snorkelers capture the moments on film, the introduction of disposable underwater cameras was a welcome addition. Not only did these allow decent shots of underwater photos of coral heads or schools of fish, but they were only around ten dollars to buy and could be developed at the same rate as other 35mm film just about anywhere. This was great for business at tourist dive shops and resorts.

More recently, the digital camera has taken over where the disposable underwater cameras left off. While not nearly as inexpensive as a disposable camera, these digital options are quite reasonable. No need to spend the thousands of dollars required just a few years ago in order to get fantastic underwater pictures. If you take into account the cost savings from having to develop film, you really get a lot of return on your investment. Having a good digital camera that is able to shoot underwater is only the first step. Once you get back from your trip, you can put the images on your computer and use any number of editing software packages to clean up your pictures. These software packages are very intuitive and easy to use. With just a little effort, you have great pictures to share with everyone from your latest or greatest dive or vacation.

The underwater cameras are not use only

by Camera Enthusiast on November 3, 2009

fro capture the beauty of underwater but it is also used for the underwater marine photographer fro there business. They were use underwater camera not only for the business but also for the life and properties of their life’s.A water proof camera is not just that it can secure it from the water but also from the dust proof, crush resistant, airtight, watertight and capable of security after a certain level of depth into the water. It also resist to the oils, solvents and the fuels. This glasses must be molded with the ultra violet stabilizers because it save the glasses from becoming brittle in the sun after a certain period of time. The best water cameras were expensive and quite rare.If you are capturing photos with your water proof cameras then you have to note some points as much as you go deeper into the water the light diffuses. This simply mean that your digital cameras will take the images but it may be much darker than from the level of land photography. To avoid this you have to come with nature colors.Have a great experience with this underwater journey with your latest collection of cameras.
